Stricker ties major Championship scoring Record

Steve Stricker is the leader of the first round at the 2011 PGA Championship with a record-tying 63.

Stricker of 63 not only the PGA Championship record-equalling, but also matches the lowest score posted in each of the four men's majors. Stricker closed his round with four straight pars; a birdie on one of them and he would be the first player ever that card a 62 in a men-become great.

Stricker is the 11th player to shoot 63 at the PGA Championship, and the first since Tiger Woods in 2007. Overall, he is the 25th player to shoot 63 in a major.

Something to keep an eye on: the 72-hole scoring record for majors was established at the 2001 PGA Championship, which was played on ... Atlanta Athletic Club. Site of this year's PGA. Maybe Stricker (or someone else) will go to match or lower that record.
